Last Friday, Frisby CE Primary School welcomed Lat Blaylock, editor of RE Today magazine, for a special Art and Spirituality Day
At Frisby CE Primary School, spirituality is defined as “helping pupils and staff to develop their understanding of their place in the world and who they are.” The day gave children the opportunity to explore this theme through the lens of courageous advocacy – asking what it means to be “brave enough to help others.”
Through storytelling and art, pupils across the school expressed their ideas in powerful and imaginative ways. Children in Key Stage 2 designed symbolic shields representing bravery and compassion, while pupils in Class 1 and Class 2 created a beautiful “Tree of Hope,” adding their dreams through drawings and writing.
The children’s creations will now be displayed at St Thomas Church as part of this weekend’s community Art Exhibition, where families are warmly encouraged to attend and celebrate the inspiring work.
Headteacher Charmaine Ainge said:
“Art and Spirituality Day was a truly enriching experience for our pupils. It gave them the chance to think deeply about their values and how they can make a difference in the world, while also expressing themselves creatively. We are so proud of the thought, care and imagination that the children poured into their work, and we’re delighted that the wider community will have the opportunity to see and celebrate it.”
